The unfortunate thing about being in the health industry is knowing how much people are lied to. I have experiences with knowing how much doctors don’t fully tell the truth when I’m trying to maintain my thyroid health. And as you know from my previous blog, I had it removed in 2012. It’s been a race to keep up with thyroid health ever since. There has been one doctor since moving back to Ohio who truly listened to me and understood where I was coming from. She has since moved to Maryland. Now, my current doctor recently told me that they just don’t learn that much about it in med school. Are you kidding me? It’s only one of the most important organs in the body. That’s also where the unfortunate part comes in. Since I make sure to stay on top of health and the body, I have become a trusted source in talking to about health problems. Then a friend will go and get their issue taken care of, and their doctor didn’t tell them all the facts. More than free health care for all, we should have doctors who are on the same page. That’s the scariest part about government mandated insurance. Who are we going to be forced to go to? The ones who try to corrupt our government? But that conversation is for another time and place.
The other issue is that most people are quick to just take any drug that a doctor prescribes. People who tend to think that doctors are angels in white lab coats. My husband used to be one of those people until I schooled him. Instead of even taking a 7-hour class on nutrition and how it can help, they would rather prescribe legalized methamphetamine, for instance. Fill it, take it, and that’s all she wrote. But the sad thing is that a lot of medications counteract with each other. Some of the counteractions make the side effects worse and stronger. Even still, some medications that we get put on are chemo. For diseases that aren’t even cancer. Can someone please explain to me how that even makes sense? Why are we just dripping poison in our bodies? I was put on chemotherapy for my endometriosis. I ended up being allergic to it. I would get my monthly shot and instantly my hands and legs would swell and go numb. My heart rate would drop even lower than it is normally. My legs would go so numb, I would be afraid to walk. My doctor was quicker to put me on that chemotherapy than to talk about alternative therapies. Doctors are quicker to put people on opioids and addictive pain pills than to talk about holistic methods. Then we all sit back and wonder why our country has all the problems that it encounters. Heroin addiction couldn’t possibly come from addicting medications. Heart disease and our SAD (standard American diet) have nothing to do with “what we’re consuming” so we’re taught, even though we are one of the leading countries in deaths by heart issues. Then we also wonder why nothing can be done about it. The entire system has failed us and made us into lazy and bitter people.
Then when people come along with alternative solutions, we are snake oil pushers and “evil for pushing our own agenda.” I see hundreds of people each day talking about how much they’re pain pills don’t work for certain ailments. How diabetic medication might work, but you might also get amputated. How steroids make you fat and immunosuppressives can kill you without a mask on (trust me, I’ve been there too with them. Try to walk outside and not get stared at looking like that). I’m not saying that these things are completely wrong. But what I am saying is that there are other ways. You don’t have to be miserable. You can have better quality of life without flooding your body with chemically compounded poisons. We are not the snake oil pushers. There is another way. And the alternative side is a beautiful life. I never imagined how great it really could be. You don’t have to be sick. You don’t have to take chemo when it’s not warranted. You don’t have to wear a mask in public and get stared at like you have three heads. You don’t have to end up in the hospital with the flu. Please do research. You only have one body and mind. Make it count.
